Interview:
Introduce yourself…
I’m a 20-year-old centre mid playing for Dorking Wanderers. I love getting on the ball and making things happen, and I bring an aggressive edge to my game. I always try to get involved and move the ball quickly.
Are there particular midfielders—past or present—whose game you admire or aim to emulate?
I really like the way Rodri plays, he breaks up play well and always dictates the tempo of the game, for me that’s what I want to be doing consistently.
What led to your move from Welling United to Dorking Wanderers’ academy?
I was at welling as a first year scholar and then an old coach Rhys Barker got the Dorking B job and he brought me down there with him, we’ve always been very close and he’s always had my best interests in mind. He told me about the pathway and the men’s football opportunities and was a massive help in my football.
What made Dorking Wanderers stand out as the right place for your development?
I had so many chats with the coaches there and people around there and they all said how good a club it is. I spoke heavily with the academy manager Jordan Clark about the move and he supported me then and all the way to now. He really made me feel welcome going into it and I loved the environment going into it. He ensured me about the pathway into the first team, and gave me all the help to make that happen. At the time I was moving into Dorking B they were playing step 6, so it was my first taster of men’s football and I thought it would definitely be a stepping stone to go higher.
