🎙️ INTERVIEW
Introduce yourself…
My name is Kyle Fleming I’m 23 years old and I currently play for Clyde FC. As a youngster I was in Celtics academy for 9 years before moving on to Dundee FC and signing my first professional contract there at 17 years old. I’ve been playing first team football since I was 18 and have played just under 200 games in the SPFL. Outside of playing I also coach football and study sports coaching at university.
How would you describe your playing style as a central midfielder?
I’d describe myself as hardworking player who likes to get on the ball and play building attacks but can also mix it up and do the other side of the game. I am comfortable playing anywhere in midfield and also in defence. I can cover the pitch well and enjoy playing as a box to box midfielder.
How important is chemistry in midfield, and how have you built relationships with the players around you?
It is always good to have an understanding with the players you’re playing with and this comes with time and learning each other’s game. I think speaking to the players you are playing with before games about how you can work in relation to each other positionally and in certain moments of the game can make it a lot easier when going onto the pitch as you are more aware of where you’re other midfielders are going to be.
Celtic’s academy is known for its intensity and standards. What were the biggest lessons you took from your time there?
The academy was a great experience growing up and gave me some brilliant opportunities I’ll never forget like going abroad to play the best teams in the world at a young age. I’d say respect hard work was a non-negotiable there from an early age.
When you first joined Annan Athletic on loan, what were your expectations, and how did the experience compare?
I think going on loan to League 2 at 18 was the best thing I could’ve done at that stage in my career. It was a eye opener to see how many good players play at that level and at first it was tough to break into the team however by the end of the season I was playing every minute and that experience was invaluable in getting my foot in the door at senior level.
Kyle, what made Albion Rovers the right move for you at that time in your career?
I had the option to stay at Annan however at the end of my second season there I started to think about moving on and when Albion showed an interest it appealed to me at that time. It was a tough season but I started over 40 games that season in the league and cups so it was a good experience for me.
What were your first impressions of the dressing room and the club culture at Rovers?
It was a really good club with a lot of hardworking people in the background. There was a good group of young players there at that time so that made it quite easy to settle in.

Can you take us back to the moment Stranraer FC first made contact. What was your initial reaction?
I knew a few players who had played down at Stranraer so I spoke to them and they had all said positive things about the club to me so when the chance came to sign there it was a no brainer at that stage.
Clyde FC has a strong culture and fan base—how has the environment here helped your growth?
I knew from playing against Clyde that they had one of the strongest fan bases in the lower leagues so that has been brilliant to play in front of them this season. The backing we’ve had has been massive especially away from home where they’ve came in great numbers and it makes it a lot more enjoyable to play when there’s bigger crowds there supporting you.
What’s been your best moment in a Clyde shirt so far?
I think the past 7/8 games where I’ve been starting every week and the teams kept their unbeaten run going has been a highlight. We’ve now only lost 1 of our last 15 so hopefully we can kick on even more and end the season on a real high.
