Introduce yourself…

Deryn Lang, 26 Years old.

How would you describe yourself as a player, and what are your strongest qualities as a forward?

Hardworking and determined. Holding the ball up and linking the game.

Can you take us back to your time at Royal Albert, what first got you into football there?

My friends dad came to my door and asked me to come to train.

What kind of player were you in those early days, and how have you evolved since?

Raw, inexperienced. Fast, and had good finishing. I would say now, I’m more experienced and have got stronger, which has helped my overall game.

How did the move to Lanark United come about? Was it something you expected?

I was playing really well, and ended up going to Lanark. It was something I expected because I was playing well.

What were your emotions like when you realized you’d be leaving Royal Albert for your first transfer?

Thankful that Royal Albert gave me the opportunity. But I knew it was time to move on.

In 2023 you signed at Stranraer FC. What attracted you to Stranraer FC, and how did the transfer come together?

Professional club and I wanted to challenge myself at that level. The manager had got into contact with me and then I went in for a trial. I performed well in the trial and then they signed me from Lanark.

Can you describe your debut, what do you remember most about that day?

Came off the bench and scored on my debut. A good first debut and I’ll always remember it.

When you look back from Royal Albert to Stranraer, what journey stands out most to you?

The short space of time going from Junior to professional. It all happened in a short space of time.

Where do you still want to improve as a player?

I want to be more clinical, and score more goals.
