🎙️ INTERVIEW
Introduce yourself…
I’m Oliver Godziemski. I’m a player who has spent my whole life being the best player and person I can be whilst trying to climb as high as I can in my football career.
Can you tell us a bit about your earliest memories of playing football?
My earliest recollections of football is going to play for my local team as a very young boy I remember going to the burgess park centre and just having the time of my life, eventually finding my passion in life, also ended up with a bump on my head me and my mum still laugh about.
How would you describe your playing style and strengths as a centre-forward?
I would describe my play-style best is direct and adaptable so I like to use that combination to affect the game in different ways.
How did your time at the Welling United youth setup begin? What were the biggest lessons you learned there, both on and off the pitch?
I joined the Welling scholarship programme for my post 16, I found it a rollercoaster of a journey with its fair share of highs and lows, however I’m grateful to have had a place where I could perfect my craft as well as showcase what I could do, to add to that I got a taste of senior football within that time frame that I am grateful for.
How did the opportunity to join the Colchester United youth academy come about? And did you have to trial or was it through scouting?
As a result of my time at Welling it had allowed me to go on trial at Colchester United, where I had secured a contract within a week or two of my trial.
What were the main differences in coaching, facilities, or expectations between the two academies?
Of course there was a jump as I had been joining an EFL club so things like coaching and facilities will have been a step up, however my main take away was the attention to detail and expectation, at that level it is important and more time the difference between one level to another.

How did your first senior move to AFC Greenwich Borough come about?
Following my release at the end of the 2024-25 season I didn’t end up with a club to begin with so I joined AFC Greenwich which had been managed by my past coaches at welling, playing a couple games there saw me move to Horndean where I really started to get back on my feet, and with both teams I developed a better understanding of the game as well as the demands physically of playing senior football.
How did the move to Worthing FC materialize? And can you describe your first impressions of the club and the environment here?
Similar to Colchester through my work in the season allowed me to get a trial with Worthing where I done really well and as time went on materialised into a contract, the club is one of a kind and I’m thankful to be in an environment where I’m able to learn my trade with coaches and teammates who help me everyday.
Do you have targets in terms of leagues, personal milestones, or international aspirations?
I intend to finish this season as strong as possible and get the most I can out of everyday, with the aim of helping the club get to where it belongs.
