🎙️ INTERVIEW
Introduce yourself…
Hi I’m Ross Taylor, typically a winger currently playing for Stenhousemuir in Scottish league one.
As a right midfielder, what are the key qualities you pride yourself on?
My key qualities in my opinion are my ability on the ball, dribbling, speed, creativity and finishing.
Growing up in Greenock Morton’s youth system, what were the biggest lessons you took from that environment?
Biggest lesson from growing up at Morton was to be resilient and how to deal with ups and downs in football.
Your loan spell at Kilbirnie Ladeside was your first real taste of senior football, how big a step up was it?
Kilbirnie was something I’d never experienced before and getting a good taste of what it’s like in the men’s game. Step up in terms of physicality and was first time where winning was everything no matter what. End of the day didn’t matter how well we played as long cause that wouldn’t be remembered come the end of the game.
Moving to Auchinleck Talbot marked your first permanent move. What went into that decision?
Auchinleck was an easy decision once I’d heard they were interested. Being the biggest club at that level it was a no brainer and I knew it was a platform with the support and people around me that could boost my career. To play with the club is something I won’t forget.
Joining Stenhousemuir, did it feel like a natural next step in your career?
Joining Stenhousemuir was once again an opportunity that I couldn’t say no to. Was a way back in to the SPFL and I was grateful to get the chance. Leaving the Talbot was difficult but for the sake of my career it was something I had to do.

How different is the tactical side of the game now compared to your earlier clubs?
Feel like tactical side hasn’t changed much with the managers that I’ve worked with due to the sheer desire just to win games of football. Being hard to beat and pressing from the front is something they’ve all had and then that freedom on the ball to go make things happen.
What are your personal goals with Stenhousemuir over the next few seasons?
Personally I want to keep developing as a player as much as I can and see how far that will take me in the game. Continue to add numbers and perform well too. Hoping as a club we can continue to achieve good things and there’s real aspirations within the club to be competing at the best level we can.
