Introduce yourself…
I’m Tyler James. I play for Radcliffe FC and I’m 23 years old.
How would you describe yourself as a player, and what are your strongest qualities as a forward?
I would say I’m a fast runner and know where the net is. My strongest qualities I would say is being fast and having quick feet.
You started your football career in the Macclesfield Town’s youth academy. How did you end up in the academy?
Paul McGuire came and scouted me at a school game one night and invited me down to Macclesfield and it went good from there all thanks to Paul though.
You had a spell with Glossop North End AFC early in your career. What did that first taste of senior football teach you? And how much did that experience help prepare you for the next stage of your career?
It taught me that football isn’t always pretty and good football you have to do the dirty work and you can express yourself and it prepared me mentally for playing in Men’s football.
In 2022 you made the move to Prestwich Heys AFC. Why did you feel it was the right time to leave Macclesfield Town FC?
Tbh I wasn’t getting played at all for the first team made 1/2 appearances and I just wanted playing time so had to make a decision to leave Macclesfield.
Joining Padiham FC seemed to be a turning point in your career. Did you feel that at the time?
I knew from when I met Mozza that he was gonna push me to my best limit and he did yeah I felt good scoring goals helping the team out where I could and there all lovely lads.
You were voted Players’ Player of the Season. Did that recognition mean more because it came from your teammates?
It is always special when your teammates pick you for player’s player. It was a special feeling and I thank them for that.
Signing for Bury FC was another big step. What attracted you to the club? And what did you learn from playing in a promotion-chasing squad?
The fans most importantly who wouldn’t want to play in front of 3,500 fans home game nearly every week and plus Tim Lees very good coach taught me a few things, I learnt that the football is more tactical and a lot of information is passed onto you.
How did the move to Radcliffe FC come together? And what can Radcliffe supporters expect from Tyler James every time you pull on the shirt?
I was at Bury at the time not playing then Radcliffe put 7 days in Jonno and Berno so I thank them for that and will always be appreciative of getting the opportunity and goals that’s what they are gonna see and hard work.
If you could give one piece of advice to young players hoping to follow a similar path, what would it be?
Never give up and always keep your head up one bad game doesn’t define you as a footballer and another thing is to enjoy football. That’s the main thing.
